I was about to watch the half part of the comery Rush Hour 3 last night when suddenly the screen tearing apart with green lines and a complete system reboot.

So handsome

So handsome
Then again I managed to reset computer and able to watch the comedy until the end without any problems. Then I continued to watch My Wife is a Gangster and again the problem occured and I decided to reinstall the graphic driver completely and set the processor to work at original speed (I was overclocking it 25% at 3GHz). Perhaps it was the processor overheating or sort of. I checked the GPU temperature was steadily at 57 degrees Celcius (where I manually set the fan at 45% of it speed in CCC). The system booted successfully ….. at least for another hour.

The myterious problem appears and this time I checked the bios setting and pulled the side cover to see if the RAM or GPU is the problem. They looked OK and I pushed them a little bit if the pins are loose. They are not that hot either. Off course I AM ONLY WATCHING MOVIES that time. Naturally they are steamed hot when I played game.

That was the last boot when I let the PC on for several minutes watching My Wife is a Gangster, then suddenly the screen wiped out with green and white lines and dots, the cursor began to become large square and Media Player Classic become dematerialized (like an effect in Adobe After Effect).

What the fuck happened? Something was telling me that the problem must be coming from the ATI 4870X2, since the symptom looks like as if I am overclocking the GPU and it is overheating but I’ve checked the temperature and clock speed and I didn’t overlock the already the-fastest-graphic-card in the world.

This morning, I’ve managed to boot the system up with Musa’s ATI X1550 PCIex and confirmed that the 4870×2 is damaged, and contacted NicholasTeoh for warranty claim. I cleaned that graphic card and not seen any mark of damage or burn.

Then I am selling Coolit Eliminator Cooler to upgrade to other cooling as the system will go holiday while waiting replacement for the 4870×2. Hope Nich can help replace it soon or I might crying all week for the RM1900 card.

This just got in today:

Nvidia GTX295 Performance Preview

Looks like 4870×2 unofficially dethroned as the fastest graphic card today, and mine went RMA because of the shock? Even NVIDIA can claim the fastest card today, I won’t recommend buying the card from them as Geforce 295GTX only supports DX10 Old technology. You should wait DX11 cards for the next couple of months as ATI will fully support it with RV870.

Conclusion:

The worlds most powerful video card…. you know it is a bit catchy. The GTX 295 is the king of the high resolutions in the short round of testing I have done. In the 6 games tested,… blablabla.
*Siiiiiiiiiiiiigh*

I must say that this week I had so many problems with many customers and PC including mine. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
